Alien poop on my lawn? Help me identify mystery substance.

Does anyone know what the hell this is? There's about 6 patches of it on the lawn in my back yard. At first I thought it was some kind of fungus but upon closer inspection it appears to have been dropped on top.

There is also another more yellowish patch in a planter.
