These are the second generation of the Ray’s Engineering Volk TE37, now known as the VR.G2. They come in 2 types and 2 colors. Type I does not have a lip, so I purchased Type II since I wanted the lip. The other color they are available in is black, but I’m not a huge fan of black wheels unless they have a chrome or lighter colored lip. These match the color of my M3 almost perfectly.

I had them shipped from Japan and while many will say they don’t look like they belong on a German car, I couldn’t disagree more. I think they give my M3 a much more aggressive look, plus, they are going to be tons easier to clean than the OEM 18’s I previously had on.

These are upsized to 19" and despite the larger size on both the wheels and tires, the full weight gain is minimal. I was going to keep my stock 18’s for track days, but since the difference in weight isn’t that much, I may just end up selling them.

Stock 18" with Michelin PS2 Tires:

  • Front: 46.8 lbs. (245/40/19)
  • Rear: 50.2 lbs. (265/40/18)

Volk 19" VR.G2 with Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta Tires:

  • Front: 47.4 lbs. (265/30/19)
  • Rear: 52.4 lbs. (295/30/19)

Here are the specs of the wheels themselves:

  • Color: Formula Silver
  • Front: 19x9.5 +22 / 20.8 lbs.
  • Rear: 19x10.5 +25 / 21.6 lbs.

I’ll probably need a drop eventually since the wheel gap in front is a bit large, but overall I’m real happy with the results.
