Day 1: Travel
For me, it was pretty much just a basic travel day, but the boy was pretty excited since this was his first time on a plane.
Photos above are:
- Waiting at LAX
- On Plane
- On Balcony of our room at the Renaissance München Hotel
Security guy at LAX stopped the boy as he walked through the metal detector. Held him by his shoulders and faced him toward another guard. Then he said, “Just give him snacks and no one gets hurt.” Boy got a kick out of that since that’s what was on his shirt.
Kyle watched Monsters vs. Aliens and some show about pandas on the plane while I watched Star Trek and Fast & Furious. It was pretty painful watching Star Trek on the tiny screen with lousy headphones, but I could tell it WOULD have been a good movie had I actually had a good AV experience.
I guess I didn’t get a ton of sleep on the plane because my right eye has a red spot now. Boy called it “scary-looking.” Hope it goes away after a good nights’ sleep...and I hope I actually CAN sleep since it’s supposed to be noon right now but it’s 9:30pm in Germany. Fortunately, the boy has already fallen asleep so I think he’ll be fine tomorrow. He was getting a bit cranky just before dinner.
We get the M3 tomorrow morning!
This ought to keep him occupied for awhile.
He's watching Monsters vs. Aliens.

Boy on his first plane. Immediately got his pillow and blanket out.
Look at that face of excitement! He's stoked there is a TV screen in the seat.

The boy is giddy and doesn't know what to do with himself.
He is counting the hours and minutes to when we leave. Can you say, “bouncing off the walls?”

My M3 is built! It’s now “Awaiting Transport”
This is exciting. T-minus 6 days until I leave for my trip!! My CA told me she was still unable to connect BMW Assist to my car, but perhaps this status change will finally allow it to happen. Even though it’s really late since I stayed up working I think I'm going to have a tough time sleeping tonight...
More parts for my M3
I'm about a week away from my trip and am still collecting some odds and ends. In the photo above are:
- Smoked Reflectors
- iPod Connection Cable
- iPhone Snap-In Adapter
The Snap-In Adapter will charge and hold my phone securely in the center console, route music from my iPhone through the iDrive system, as well as boost the phone signal through the car antenna. The iPhone also connects to the car via Bluetooth so my contacts will be accessible through iDrive.
The iPod Connection Cable won't be used very much since I'll mostly be using the ease and convenience of snapping the phone in and out of the adapter, but in the event someone else wants to connect their iPod (like the boy on our ED trip), it's available. It's a prerequisite for the Snap-In Adapter otherwise I might not have gotten it.
The Smoked Reflectors will replace the OEM orange ones and add another 5HP to my 414HP V8.

Finally made it to the second stage “Scheduled for Production” on BMW tracking site.
Guess it should be no surprise that I signed my finance papers last friday which in turn, finally got this thing to finally move past the first “On Order” state. My dealer said they can build 800 to 1000 cars a day, so I guess I shouldn’t worry if it doesn’t progress quickly in the next week or so. Either way, I’m excited about this!
This looks like it’s gotta hurt but she seemed quite comfortable.
It's kind of hard to tell in this pic since it's dark (and she moved a little) but one leg was completely twisted around the other.
