The boy finally gets display cases for the die cast collectibles he bought from Germany.

These two die casts have been in their boxes ever since we came back from Germany 5 months ago. I was surprised the boy didn't want to take them out to display, but he said he wanted to keep them clean and not get them dusty. We went out and bought some collectible cases for them today, so he was happy to finally take them out for display.

The detail on both of these are really good. Check out the interiors and the carbon fiber roof on the M3. When comparing to mine, the die cast is really accurate.

A few of my favorite pics from the Web Teams’ holiday festivities

I took a lot of pics from our Web Team Medieval Times / Secret Santa Gift Exchange but these are just a few of my favorites.

MEDIEVAL TIMES:

The first shot is my favorite of the whole batch, but in the second one, it looks like Kurt is whipping Andy, Sean and Cassie, hahahah!

SECRET SANTA:

The one of Robert and Skon is not a great pic, but it was more “the moment” that makes that one a fave. And of course, Ed sitting by himself, playing Pocket Guitar Hero is just priceless.

Ojai Drive and BBQ with Andy

The boy and I drove up the coast to visit Andy in Ventura. He BBQ'd some ribs and put out an awesome spread. I felt kind of bad he went through all that effort, but it was well worth it. After lunch we took the M3 out for some driving through Ojai. The best part of the drive was some twisties on the way to Boccali's, where we stopped for some apple pie and ice cream.

Not sure I like the Flickr set integration using flash on Posterous, but I might as well give it a shot. Scroll through the photos above if you don't want to wait for the whole slideshow.

Here's a map of the entire trip (starting from the coast drive):

And this was the best part:

Here's an image to get an idea of the elevation change. The twisties mostly went downhill (right to left). The purple camera on the right indicates where the images of the car (halfway through the photo set above) was taken, and the purple pin on the left is where Boccali’s is located.

We had fun. Must do it again.

My girls greeted me after work with a dinner service <3

I got a nice little surprise when I got home from work today.

First, the entry from the garage was roped off with a sign that instructed me to wait to be seated.

Then they took me to the table and presented me with a hand-made menu for "Caitlin and Keely's Fabulous Fantasy Diner." I picked pepperoni pizza, a cheese stick, a couple of buffalo wings and a Sprite (all courtesy of Papa John's).

After dinner, I got a little desert dish with Dove Chocolates, dried apricots, a Lifesaver and some Candy Canes.

They also made a bunch of hug and kiss coupons out of Post-Its. It was such a heartwarming surprise. Great way to end a busy week. Precious moments.

Love my babies!

Finally got a chance to whip out the #5DMKII. A few shots of my girls hanging out on the driveway.

Nothing spectacular here (except for the girls, of course), but it felt good to finally shoot a little. The girls were jumping rope outside, but the minute I got out there with my camera, all action stopped and they just messed around. Wish I got out there just 5 minutes earlier so I could have taken some jumping shots.

Aluminum M Pedals painted and installed. Before and after pics:

Weekend project complete. Saturday morning was spent getting supplies and I took a couple hours in the afternoon to do the install. I expected it to be harder but it wasn’t too bad at all. Thanks to the suggestions on the DIY threads on M3Post.com, I went out and bought some titanium drill bits to make the drilling easier. The brake pedal was the hardest, but was ultimately easier than I thought it would be. I wasn't thrilled about drilling holes into the OEM dead pedal and considered leaving that alone, but I’m glad I went ahead with it. It looks way better all matched up.

The pedals came with outlined M’s which I didn’t like the look of, so I filled them in with black paint. I was originally going to cut frisket and spray paint them, but after not being able to find frisket at the art store, I decided to just get a thin brush and paint it by hand. Since the outlines are debossed, it allowed for a good margin of error. I messed up one time, but a swift xacto blade surgery fixed the blemish.

Here's a before and after shot, along with some closeups:

My weekend project arrived a couple days too late.

Finally got these in after a week of waiting. Was hoping to install these last weekend but now it looks like it will be next weekend instead.

Still deciding whether I want to go through the trouble of masking/painting the M's though. Not a big fan of the outline. Also considering monochrome stripes but I think that will be too much work. I think I need to do some Photoshop mocks to decide.
